Congratulations, you say, but what exactly is an FDES, and more importantly, what is its purpose?
FDES in brief
It is an Environmental and Health Declaration Sheet that concerns construction and decoration products. An FDES is established under the manufacturer's responsibility and is, as its name indicates, declarative. This sheet presents the results of the product's life cycle analysis as well as health information to establish a calculation of the building's environmental performance. A product's FDES is valid for 5 years.
Once a manufacturer has created the FDES for their product, they submit it to the INIES database. This same database is freely accessible and compiles all data submitted by manufacturers, groups of manufacturers, or governmental bodies.
A manufacturer can also have a product's FDES validated by a third-party verifier. This process allows the addition of the mention "verified" to the sheet. Third-party validation enhances the reliability of the data provided on the sheet.

Why FDES for EUROMAC2?
INIES data complements the carbon impact calculations of the RE2020. The objective of these calculations is to minimize the environmental impact of new constructions.
The INIES database categorizes data into several main types:
- Default data consists of impact estimations performed by governmental bodies. These are considered disadvantageous for calculations as they represent a scenario where impacts are poorly controlled.
- Collective data refers to information provided by a group of manufacturers, offering general industry data for a specific product type.
- Finally, individual data represents the most precise solution among the three. It accurately reflects the impacts of the specific product in question.
Our FDES are individual and verified to ensure the most precise calculations possible for your construction project.
