Noise pollution can quickly become a daily torment. Therefore, when constructing your home, it is crucial to choose the most effective materials to reduce it.

Polystyrene formwork blocks and insulating formwork slabs are an innovative solution offering numerous construction advantages. Beyond their lightweight nature, ease of installation, and superior thermal insulation capacity, these blocks also exhibit exceptional acoustic properties.

1. Reducing environmental noise with EUROMAC2 blocks

Polystyrene formwork blocks are designed to absorb and attenuate external noise, thereby providing optimal acoustic insulation inside buildings. This feature is particularly beneficial in noisy urban areas or near major traffic routes.

Indeed, polystyrene is renowned for its ability to absorb sound waves. Thanks to its cellular structure and composition, it converts sound energy into thermal energy, thereby reducing the transmission of unwanted noise through walls. As polystyrene is present throughout our walls, our construction system is also effective in limiting noise from adjoining rooms.

Insulating formwork slabs are perfect for insulating your floor. They are ideal for condominiums or multi-story buildings to prevent impact noise from upper floors. You would therefore benefit from a quieter and more pleasant indoor environment.

2. Furthermore, vibration reduction…

Beyond its effectiveness in absorbing sound waves, polystyrene also plays a crucial role in insulating against vibrations from external sources, such as road traffic or industrial activities. Our polystyrene formwork blocks act as dampers by absorbing pressure waves and minimizing the transmission of vibrations through walls.

3. EUROMAC2 Insulating Formwork Blocks' Sound Absorption Capabilities as measured by CSTB

Our formwork blocks have been tested by the CSTB which measured their sound absorption capabilities:

  • The sound reduction index (Rw) = 50 dB (-1; -4). This corresponds to the value assigned to the decrease in acoustic intensity between two points located on either side of an obstacle.
  • Rw + C = 49 dB. This value signifies the sound insulation against indoor noise from adjacent areas.
  • Rw + Ctr = 46 dB. This data corresponds to the sound insulation against noise originating from transport infrastructures and ground or airport activities.

Our polystyrene formwork blocks enable greater reduction of ambient noise compared to brick or concrete blocks. They offer exceptionally high acoustic performance for both interior and exterior insulation and are suitable for use in areas with intense noise levels.

Polystyrene formwork blocks and slab formwork thus provide an innovative and effective solution for sound reduction in buildings. Their ability to acoustically insulate interior spaces helps create a calm, comfortable, and well-being-enhancing environment. Whether for residential or commercial projects, utilizing these blocks is a judicious choice to optimize the quality of life for occupants.
